Movie Night

Last night I had my nieces and nephews over for a Movie Night.  This was their Christmas gift and we finally found a weekend available for the party.  Before the movie we ate pizza and then I set up a concession stand which included popcorn cupcakes that I made, candy, and popcorn.  The kids voted and we watched The Lion King.  During the movie we played Movie Bingo; Jordan was the winner.  After the movie we played "Candy Bar Slogan Game" and then a couple of card games.  The kids camped out on the family room floor (my girls slept in their beds).  This morning I made waffles and the kids played a little while before heading home.  We had so much fun!

When something happened in the movie that was on their card they marked it off with a coin.

Eating pizza

This pic cracks me up because I was taking a candid photo and Mr. Jake is very well trained because he put on his best smile when he saw a camera.

Fun with photo props

Fresno Friday- Campagnia Champagne Brunch and FSU Baseball Game

Last weekend Kevin and I had a day date.  We had a delish Champagne brunch at Campagnia and then went to the FSU Baseball game.  Brunch was a little pricey but it was very good.  Plus we had a gift card so it was perfect!  After brunch we enjoyed a beautiful day outside by watching the game.  Going to the game isn't something I'd want to do every weekend but I loved doing it this once because it was something different.  I love doing different things around town.  I'm always looking for something new to do in FresYes and this fit the bill last weekend.

School Days-February

February was a very busy month in Emily's Ladybug class.  They learned the letters N, O, and P, the color pink, the shape heart, and the math concept was adding one more.  Emily's class lead Chapel this month and had new songs to sing.  Emily got to have her first Valentine parties and she exchanged Valentine's with her friends.  While they were learning the letter P they had a pajama party and made pancakes at school.

Thank you Grandma Jill for Emily's darling Valentine's dress.

All the Valentine's Emily received from her friends and classmates.

The Ladybugs were learning about the letter P so they had a Pajama and Pancake Party.

Mommy Monday- Kids Say the Darndest Things (Again)

  • During the collection during mass, Emily says, "Where money for my God?"
  • We tell Emily, "God bless you," usually before bedtime and make the sign of the cross on her head.  Recently she rubbed her hand on Kevin's head and said the same.
  • As Kevin was leaving out of town, Emily said, "I'll take care of mommy."
  • "Oh that's terrible!"
  • I told her we were going to get a treat and when she asked what the treat was I told her it was cheesecake.  She thought for a second and responded, "I love grilled cheese and string cheese but not cake cheese."
  • I was sick a few weeks ago and Emmy asked if I felt better; I said yes.  She then said, "Is your cold gone?"  I said no.  She said, "I'll give you a love and you'll feel all better."  She proceeded to give me a big hug then asked if I felt better.  I said, "Much better."  Emily, "You're cold all gone?"  I said, "No, baby."  She responds, "My loves not strong enough:(" My heart broke.
  • On February 25th, Emily started referring to herself as "Emiwee" instead of "Emmy."  It breaks my heart because she's growing up.
  • We hear nearly every 30 seconds, "I have an idea..."  (Most of her ideas I'm not on board with.)
  • Yesterday she was talking on a play cell phone and says, "Shh be quiet, I've got a work call.  It's my client and they want to see a house."

Madi definitely doesn't say the "darndest things" yet but she's starting to say Mama.  It doesn't have intention yet but it's her new favorite sound.  I heared all day today, "ma-ma-ma-ma-ma!"

(I'm trying to get better at writing these things down but there are a million more quotes that are so cute and/or funny.)

Supper Sunday- Chicken Fajita Quesadillas

Chicken Fajita Quesadillas

Ingredients:

Flour Tortillas
Shredded Mexican Cheese
Butter
Red and Green Bell Pepper
Avocado
Shredded Chicken
Sour Cream

Directions:

1. Chop and grill bell peppers.
2.  Put a small pat of butter in your pre-heated non-stick pan and spread around.
3. Lay a tortilla down in pan and cover with a good amount of shredded cheese.
4. Add bell peppers, sliced avocado, and shredded chicken.  ( I use left over chicken from Crockpot Chicken Ranch Tacos.)
5. Put another tortilla on top.
6.  After about 2 minutes check if bottom tortilla is grilled to your liking.  If so, flip.
7.  Cook second side until done to your liking.
8. Serve with sour cream.  (We only like sour cream but you could serve with any of your favorite toppings.)

Disclaimer: This isn't my photo.  We did eat these tonight but I forgot to take a pic.

Weekend Wrap Up

Weekend Wrap Up-Last Weekend

I'm quite late in posting this but last weekend was a fun filled weekend.  We had Colton's 2nd Birthday Party which was beyond cute.  It was a construction theme which Emily loved!  Rema and Kevin did a fabulous job and we had so much fun.
That evening we had our friend, Jon's surprise 30th birthday party.  He was extremely surprised; his fiance did a great job.
On Sunday, I had a wedding shower for my friend Liz.  It was a beautiful and fun shower at Daily Grill.
